Re: sa200 copper coils
Can the aluminum clad coils be replaced with copper? Sometimes I read that they have been replaced, then I read that not all machines can be replaced.

sa200 copper coils
Maybe this is two questions in one post. Shopping for sa200. Prefer to get copper coils, if I am going to the trouble of finding one, and updating. Have read every post on WT&T.com and on the interweb I can find, but can't find any definitive info. Supposedly machines post 1972 are aluminum coil...

Re: HELP! Gas Won't Flow - Everlast.
When the hose is disconnected from the machine, the flow meter will top out, so everything behind the connection to the machine is G2G. When I remove the lead, and jump the terminals at the machine output, the digital meters come on, the wire feed motor engages, and the flow meter reads 10 CFH (flow...

Re: HELP! Gas Won't Flow - Everlast.
Did further diagnosis testing. Put a jumper cable on the electrodes coming out of the machine. Gas come on, and flow meter read 10 CFH as it did with lead on. So its not the lead, its internal to the machine. I have taken the cover off twice now, and its on back on now. Afraid to tinker in there unl...

Re: HELP! Gas Won't Flow - Everlast.
Getting debris out of the solenoid sounds promising. I am cautions of sticking screwdrivers in there, given the 6 large capacitors.

Re: HELP! Gas Won't Flow - Everlast.
Thanks cj737. I have disconnected the lead. Blown compressed air thru it, and a strong flow came out the work end. I have blown thru it with my mouth, and it was hard, but air came thru. I have taken every part off the work lead, except taking out the sleeve. I have ran a filler wire thru it manuall...

HELP! Gas Won't Flow - Everlast.
Everlast Power I-Mig 210. Had it 1 year, with light use. I started a stair case job using dual shield flux core. Can't get more then 10 CFH thru the flow meter. 1000 psi in tank. When the hose is disconnected from machine, flow meter will top out. Called Everlast Tech Support. Usually they seem to u...

Re: Eliminating Arc Blow
I did read the Lincoln article. Very theoretical, which convinces me that magnetism does effect the arc, but not specific enough to tell me how to fix my particular situation. I did move the ground clamp to right of the piece on the horizontal part of stand. At first at I had it directly behind the ...

Re: Eliminating Arc Blow
Glad this post was on top, as I have come down with a bad case of arc blow. Using a rickity test stand, which uses the weld table for support, for 3g plate practice. About 1.5 inches from top of plate the arc goes out of control, fingernails, then blows out. Try again, it goes out of control, and bl...

Re: Rod Ovens for aspiring pros
So @ 275 dungerees they will maintain Lo-Hy properties. Since the Keen oven in question only goes to 275, what does one do, if the rods are left out for a while? Since H2O turns to gas at 212, it seems that if the rods are kept at 275 for a long while, all the moisture would evaporate, and your back...

Re: Rod Ovens for aspiring pros
Thanks MinnesotaDave. That was one of the models I was looking at. Keen KT-50. I see 2 used ones on FleaBay for 175. See some smaller units. They are not proportionally cheaper. One question I have is that the Keen 10lb & 50lb say 275F temp.Thought you had to get them up to 550F.

Was reading this post on storing 7018's http://forum.weldingtipsandtricks.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11507 Instead of hijacking it over rod ovens, I started this one. Have been getting ready for my first 3 & 4 G structural test. Bought a new can of 7018s, and what a difference. No snuff outs, e...

Think cj737 was right. It was just me having a bad day. Some days I am pro, then some days I suck, and its very frustrating.
If it was easy, anybody could do it.

Recent podcast inquiry
On a recent Jody podcast on Reference Materials, Jonathan Lewis spoke of an older gentleman that got into the welding industry late in life, and got a lot of help and support from the forum. Wondering what his user name is. I am in the same boat and would like to read his posts.

Anyway to get AL Oxide Off Rod
Was having a hell of a time tacking up an aluminum welding cart, and decided to pull out a piece of scrap and put down some beads to see what the deal was. I realized the AL oxide on the rods was not breaking down. Looked like squeezing sausage out of its casing. When I did get rid of the terds, and...

Re: YouTube Guru ? to block Chucke2009
I found the not interested button. Just in time too, as I was inundated with Lanse videos. Prolly 1/3 of recommended videos were his hillbilly, dump truck drama videos. Seems to have work, and I am much happier. I am aware he is from Ohio. His videos were better and authentic when he was there. He m...

Filling small tank from big tank
Just got a 40cf bottle (small),and already had much bigger bottle. The idea is to have a backup for when I'm about out on the big bottle. Also, easier to take on mobile jobs. I want to fill up the small bottle from big bottle. Will this work? Think I have read where folks use a vacuum pump before re...

Re: YouTube Guru ? to block Chucke2009
YouTube needs a block, or at least a thumbs down button like Pandora has. Meanwhile, I am not knocking the screen door-boat bottom product. Sure it will do the trick when you are in a dilly of a pickle. But he is not Bill Dance, and whips it out in the middle of a fishing show, and tells me how it c...

YouTube Guru ? to block Chucke2009
How do you block someone's vid's from showing up in your stream? Been trying to block Chucke2009. This guy is a goofball ,an embarrassment to welders, and to Texans. He will bend over for anyone who will give him a couple bucks. If Lulu Lemon ever came out with tig welding tights, I am sure he would...

I have Bobcat 225. But does have the course and fine adjustments. But, that is what I wanted know. That is I should change the fine adjustment for arc force control for uphill and overhead.
Thanks.
