Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
Jim French said he can do the repair for 50-75 bucks, thats if nothing goes wrong like the hole opening up cause walls are too thin. So cross my fingers.

This is exhaust port so have to consider combustion heat, that's why I am not trying the epoxy method.

Arc force for tig?
Was going they my settings on my ecerlast 210ext and when i put pulse in it allows me to adjust arc force %. I am confused cause I thought arc force was only used in stick welding? What would I adjust arc force for in tig?

Re: When NOT to use a gas lens?
Kind of piggy back on your question does it benefit or negate at all using a bigger cup. Say I have the room but I am only welding 16 ga steel would a 8 cup be detrimental at all? I know uses more gas but is that it?

Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
Yes I will smooth welds out for airflow. Head is aluminum and the valve seats are beryllium copper and valve guides are manganese bronze, you have to use those exotic materials when you run titanium valves. Here are more pics for reference you should be able to see where he repaired it. I suppose if...

Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
I have a borescope at work ill check it out next day or so and see how it looks from backside. I had a flashlight in the water jacket that's why its bright. Yeah Otto that's creative and something like, that backing idea could be done, water jackets are small that's why i said you cannot back it.

Re: Cutting your tungsten?
Yeah I didn't realize till I started researching but I read the USA isn't making tungsten anymore, they are stock pilling it for the future so most of them are made with Chinese materials. Also read that top quality ones are Wolfram, Sylvania, CK worldwide, Weldcraft, Diamond Ground. There maybe oth...

Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
Maybe Otto can touch base with him and see if he would be willing to take it on. I wouldn't even be mad if he wasn't successful, I know it may turn into a can of worms. The guy that did the head tried to fix it and weld it so there is a "base" there so maybe jody can just pick up on that. ...

Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
Yeah i figured it would,be hard and if Jody says it can't be fixes ill give up., I was looking into those extreme high temp ceramic pastes but im afraid it will break free when I am 30 feet in the air lol. I know its water cooled but I wonder how hit that wall really gets cause those pastes say can ...

Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
He tried to fix and didn't work and you cannot back it. He replaced the head but I am down for awhile now, missed my race series and chance at $1000 but I figure if i can fix it ill have an extra head and not a expensive paper weight. Habe my heard anything back from Jody but yeah a video would be c...

Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
Its very hard to see but inside the exhaust port there is a hole. It was attempted to be repaired but it still leaks and wasn't a good repair.

Re: How to get a quote from Jody?
I have a 4 stroke dirt bike head the guy ported too thin and broke into the water jacket. I need the exhaust port built up to repair the hole. I need experience cause I have a feeling once you start welding it will open up more plus being into the water jacket I just don't want to gob beads on and r...

Re: Cutting L-angle and feel stupid lol
I was reading and said coping was better cause the welds aren't in the same line so should be stronger. Ill probably just cope it then. But thanks. Ill practice 45 angles for less structural stuff.

Cutting L-angle and feel stupid lol
Ok I have a chop saw and I can go 45 degrees one way. I am cutting L-angle at 45 degree cuts so i can join and weld but for the life of me after the first cut I can't figure how to make the matching cuts. I can't swap the angle as my chop saw only angles one way. The way i got first cut is put the a...

Re: Weld practice, looks flat
You talking about his video where he tigs sort of backwards? He explains that as being able to add more metal, thought that was for building up material like if you wanted to machine it off. Not that I want a big bead, just looks flat and didn't think it was correct. Ill habe to find some more video...

Weld practice, looks flat
Tried some practice on 16ga galvanized square tube. As you can see the weld to me looks really flat. If i go hotter ill burn thru and if I add more filler don't think it will melt in. How can I get that nice bead? Using 3/32 thoriated tungsten, 3/32 and tried 1/16 er70s2. 75 Amp max. I ground off th...

Re: Cutting your tungsten?
I am going to get the diamond wheel from HF for sharpening but I'll try the scoring method. Maybe can score it and then snap it in half. I have nice bench grinders at work and belt sander so have the prep and sharpening down, just trying to cut them in half I broke and split a couple.
