I did some more researching. It's an alcotec filler. I think that's a manufacturer number.

EA4043
I always knew ER4043 and that ER stood for Electrode or Rod but what is EA? I been searching aws classifications but I can't seem to find any information on it.

I remember using her method to map out the unit circle for my trig class. Had to watch it twice cause the first time I just watched her boobs.

I'm guessing you want short- circuit transfer. I would have never guessed 90helium/7.5argon/2.5Co2. Never mig welded stainless myself.

I might be going crazy.
I bought a Jackson Baulder because I heard good things about it. Supposedly the lense is supposed to be blue. I swear that mine is green. Maybe I am partially color blind, but it is driving me bonkers because everyone is like, "what an awesome clear 'blue' view!" So im just like wtf! Mines...

It's great for thin stuff because of the shallow penetration, and I believe that's what it was designed for.

Re: Arc Welding Beginner back at it
At my school we started out with pads doing stringers and weaves. Then we made what my professor calls a "coss-angle". Its two pieces of angle iron welded together in a cross shape, so its like four big grooves. We filled it up half with stringers then with weaves. Boring as hell, but we a...

Re: Newbee...7018 arc going out
Ah. I was in quite a hurry. Thanks for clearing that up. I guess its like a hardfacing weld. I mostly wanted to makes sure that everyone knew it was welded in the Flat position, not vertical. I know what "G" and "F" stands for.

Re: Newbee...7018 arc going out
For consideration...from the machine door panel/manual. High amperage shouldn't cause rod to snuff out though should it? And rods have not been open say a month, always kept in plastic container inside. But...will try some newer rods and see. Trick will be duplicating the same kind of joint as thin...

Re: Slag Inclusions (6013 3F Downward Progression)
Yes, the whole class was doing vertical with 6010, 7018, 6013. I don't see how I could have done 6013 vertical up. The weld was very liquid and and I had to move fast or else the weld metal would pool up and fall like a rain drop. it was frustrating because I thought it was perfect, but then I chipp...

Re: Newbee...7018 arc going out
At the college we have all kinds of different welders with different power sources. New machines and old. Inverters, Transformers, Transformer-Rectifiers, you name it. Every 1/8 7018 I have ran was at 120amps DCEP. Seems your a little high on the amps setting to me. Either that or you're not getting...

Re: Slag Inclusions (6013 3F Downward Progression)
Doesn't the "1" in 6013 mean "all-positions" ? Any way, we did all the rods in flat and horizontal. Now we are doing vertical.I know its not the best choice for vertical, but it is possible and that is the point of the exercise I believe, to become familiar with the characteristi...

Re: Yes, I have no rod oven - which rod to use?
Me personally.I love 6010. I wouldn't get anything "low-hydrogen" without an oven. It does not make sense to buy a 7018. You pay for a low-hydrogen rod to limit the input of hydrogen into the weld pool. Then do not store them in an oven which introduces hydrogen into the rod and thus the w...

Re: How to get smooth transition between beads
Welcome on! You'll never completely conceal bead transitions, but one way to minimize them is to back-step in your progression. I'll try to explain it this way... consider a 12" weld (assuming everything is tacked up very firmly)... If you weld the right-most three inches in a left-to-right pr...
