Mixed Stainless Alloys- which filler?

Gday All, looking for some advice on filler - I have to tig weld some 304 stainless pipe to 316 stainless socket weld fittings. I have at my disposal 316, 308, and 309. While the below article does not answer my question exactly, the fact that the 309 does not have any molybdenum gives me the (unedu...

Re: What's wrong with this vertical dual shield lap joint?

Thanks Pete will give it a try next opportunity. Are your suggestions based on .035?

A crescent oscillation tracing the front of the puddle is what I had been doing...not sure if I was spending too little, or too long on the underlying part.

Re: Everlast Powermig 275P

In the same boat as you eyeballing and researching this Everlast machine...have not yet seen much feedbkack The 275 unlike the 250 from memory takes full size spools - will save you money over time if you burn through allot of wire. If you could go to a transformer the Lincoln PowerMig 250amp machin...

What's wrong with this vertical dual shield lap joint?

OK I'm confused...had been doing ok with this over multiple projects and plenty of out of position...then started getting this on these vertical lap joints - not laying down well on the lower part of the lap...instead its lumped in a convex bead there...and not fusing in well to the plate on the top...

Re: Looking for an Inverter with BALLS

I did look at the 251...it only takes an 8" 10# spool however. With the amount if wire I'm burning these days need to step up to the 33# spool capacity for cost/productivity. The 275 models are only $100-$300 more and offer that...along with more balls. I d0 wish however there was a non Chinese...

Re: Looking for an Inverter with BALLS

Just pulled the detailed specs on the Rebel 235. Apparently it maxes out at 250amps not 235...but only lists duty cycle at 235: Maximum Output - 250 Amps / 30 Volts MIG (GMAW/FCAW) Welding Output @ 104°F (40°C) 120A / 19V @ 40% Duty Cycle (120V) 235A / 26V @ 40% Duty Cycle (230V) MIG Welding Voltage...

Looking for an Inverter with BALLS

Here we go again with the infamous 'what machine should I buy' question.... I run almost exclusively Lincoln gas shielded, flux core ('Dual Shield') wire for working on my own truck related equipment. Previously I was stick welding all the serious stuff with 7018. I'm now trying to move more towards...

Re: C02 Pounds vs 75/25 Cubic Feet - Say What?

Hi Dave...good story!

When I told Lincoln tech support I only had access to 75/25 they suggested using the same settings and simply dropping down 1 volt.

It does mean I will be maxing out my little Lincoln 210a machine however...she only goes to 25 volts.

Re: C02 Pounds vs 75/25 Cubic Feet - Say What?

Sounds simply too good to be true (for me)...so yes want to make sure I'm not missing anything: • That's circa $23 for 80 cubic feet C02 vs the $85 I currently pay for 75/25 • The C02 bottle is noticeably smaller - yet holds more than double the volume as it turns to gas?! No one on my home island u...

Damn...ok.

I'm running .035 Lincoln Outershield and the suggested flow rates are the same for c02...

Before I do a happy dance mig torch in hand....am I really to expect DOUBLE the welding time for 20 pounds of C02 vs 80 cubic feet of 75/25?

C02 Pounds vs 75/25 Cubic Feet - Say What?

Gday, hoping someone more experienced can explain this one. Gas is rather pricey where I am - with only one supplier for 75/25. Try $85 for 80 cubic foot bottle. So I've been looking into C02 as an alternative as I run mostly Lincoln Outershield ('Dual Shield' flux core) wire rated for either gas. M...

One process to rule them all! - Dual shield question

OK....not really. But just ran some Lincoln Outershield (flux core, gas shielded) for the first time...and wow am I impressed! This stuff really fuses in hot. But what I can't seem to find is some recommended settings for .035 wire. I'm on a Lincoln Power Mig 210 so limited in my output - or would b...

Hey guys - just did an un-boxing to show the new tig torch upgrade options I went with on the new Everlast 210 EXT

Looks like they took a cue from CK in the flex cable!

Re: Curved Gap/Valley - what's the secret!?

Dual shield ay? Funnily enough have some of the Lincoln stuff on the way in .035 The 75/25 bottle has been sitting in the corner looking lonely anyhow. I've been curios about doing this project in dual shield for some time. In a manufacturing yard I can see on some of my other units it was definitel...

Re: Curved Gap/Valley - what's the secret!?

I'm still struggling with 7018 vertical stringers....seem to get poop droplets more so than an actual stringer :( My weave does end up a bit wide by the time a cover pass is on there...in some cased I've covered with a 3/32 7018 when I was beginning...easier to control and better aesthetics. By the ...

Re: Curved Gap/Valley - what's the secret!?

I've also just started experimenting with 7014 in flat position....like the way this stuff runs and serious weld deposit. Any merit to using that on the flat position valley - and 6011 (my inverter does not like 6010) on the vertical? I only have 3/32 6011 at the moment - but ordered 5lbs of Lincoln...

Gday all, came across the Miller article below commenting on how the features on the Dynasty 350 have changed the way that anodized marine aluminum can be welded. What I'm wondering - is given similar settings for waveform available on the Everlast digital lineup - are they up to the task for the od...
